Over the summer, the West End has become even more dazzling with a series of inspiring art installations, inspired by London’s ‘Brighter Future’. The initiative was conceived by Art of London with National Gallery X and other prestigious institutions, challenging artists to express their interpretation of the idea.

And whether you’re planning a full-day outing or simply passing through, this mesmerising ‘gallery without walls’ is a truly uplifting dose of culture that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Plus it won’t cost you a penny!

Winning artists Zarah Hussain and Fiona Quadri manipulated colour and multimedia to invite audiences on a voyage of creative discovery. Their inspiring installations offer unique and interactive expressions of optimism and progressiveness.

As well as the winning entries, visitors can also experience an intergalactic journey in a series of installations by judge, comedian and artist Harry Hill. His extra-terrestrial sculptures can be found across Leicester Square, and St James’s Market.

The comedian is also helping bring the trail to life with a creative tour of the area. Strap yourself in for an immersive augmented reality experience, narrated with original commentary by Hill himself. Just scan the QR code at each installation to join Harry Hill’s Alien Art Adventure!

One of the latest unveilings of the ‘Brighter Future’ initiative is Sam Williams’ ‘Catch Me If You Can’ installation in Leicester Square. Inspired by her childhood spent growing up in a theme park, this playful piece draws on the gaudy colours and patterns typical of theme parks to create an augmented reality game.

Continuing into October, Art of London will treat visitors of the trail to more exciting visual spectacles with additional unveilings from talented artists such as Faith Bebbington.
