Binance’s CZ, International Web3 Leaders in the Palawan, Philippines for ACTAI Global Event

For the first time this year, Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, the CEO of global crypto exchange Binance,is in the Philippines. This time, he was in El Nido, Palawan to attend ACTAI Global’s Web3 Meetup. The event is also the inaugural ACTAI event in Asia.

ACTAI is a community of “extraordinary athletes, conservationists, technologists, artists and innovators supporting causes around the world.“

“The purpose of all ACTAI events is to connect, collaborate and create – whether it’s creating great companies, great ideas or great friendships, and it’s all done in the spirit of fun. This is not your ordinary conference,” ACTAI noted. 

CZ was among the guests for the event along with Filipino web3 leaders such as BreederDAO CEO Renz Chong and Yield Guild Games Co-founder Beryl Li. Other international web3 thought leaders were also in the event like Animoca Brands CEO Yat Siu, Emfarsis Director Nathan Smale, Emfarsis Director and Coindesk columnist Leah Callon-Butler, and many others.

Aside from talks, the meetup was also graced by special guest artists APL. DE. AP. from Black Eyed Peas and Music Producer and DJ Alex Cruz. APL. DE. AP. also attended the Philippine Web3 Festival last November.

Last October, CZ was also in the Philippines for a t a press briefing in Taguig City. In that event, he revealed that Binance plans to engage with universities in the country to recruit interns and later accept them to the company as regular employees. CZ was also in the country in June 2022 where he announced that the firm is planning to procure licenses from the local financial regulators. Currently, Binance is still trying to secure a license in the Philippines through acquiring a local company with the necessary licenses. 

Last month, Binance Philippines held a community meetup in Cebu where its General Manager Kenneth Stern emphasized that the province has a high potential in the crypto industry. (Read more: Binance’s Stern Highlights Cebu’s Potential as Future Technology Hub in the Country)

Following the meetup, policy think tank group Infrawatch PH once again sent a letter to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) about the unauthorized activities of Binance in the Philippines, citing its crypto-to-fiat announcement and community meetup.
