Black Mirror-Inspired Wist App Lets You Interact with Memories Using a Virtual Reality Headset

You could climb El Capitan in virtual reality, or use the new Wist app to interact with real memories. Simply download the app (currently in beta), record a video, and then watch it be turned into a 3D memory that can be interacted with using a virtual reality headset such as the Meta Quest 2. Think of this as Black Mirror’s The Entire History of You episode brought to life.
During the capture process, the Wist app saves color, depth, device pose, audio, and scene information. Depth is determined using the LiDAR sensors on the iPhone / iPad Pro models. The next goal is to officially launch the beta and then roll out new features to improve the app. Co-founder Andrew McHugh loaded an ultrasound video of his first child into the app and shared it with his mother who lives halfway across the country.
