Sand Masterpiece for Dennis Eagle

Over the three days of the Plant and Waste Recycling Show (PAWRS) held next to the beach at Paignton (Devon), Areca Design commissioned an international sand sculpture artist to create a 3 meter long sand-replica of a Dennis Eagle refuse vehicle.

The eye-catching sand-sculpture was a fantastic talking point for Dennis Eagle, who were the PAWRS headline sponsor, and their exhibition stand constantly had a good number of visitors enjoying fresh Devon cream teas, filter coffee and good conversation. Following the show the eight tonnes of sand was recycled by being donated to Torbay council for use in sand-bags.

Eight tonnes of fine builders sand was hand shoveled into a forme, mixed with water and compacted by Jamie from Sand In Your Eye and Mick from Areca Design. After hardening overnight into compact block of sand. Jamie then skillfully sculptured the sand into a replica of a short-wheelbase, smooth-body Olympus Elite 2 refuse collection vehicle.

Areca Design created and managed the stand throughout, which included shelter from the showers under a large marquee or in the customised show unit – a Dennis Eagle refuse vehicle converted into a private meeting room.

Dennis Eagle, and Areca Design are now creating stand-plans for upcoming exhibitions, including the RWM at the NEC later this year.
